For my whole life I have thought of this moment.
When it would come, how it would happen.
It is my fate, so inevitable and inescapable.
I’ve always known it would come.
I’ve always be prepared.
But I never realized how much it would hurt him.

He can be like a child, when lost and fragile.
A man so strong, yet so weak.
I knew him so; I did not want to let him go.
The pain I would leave him would scar him.
The regret I would give him would burden him.
My decision would break him.

As I sunk deeper into the darkness,
I saw much sadness in his eyes.
The sight pained me much; I never saw him as such.
I wanted to reach out to him.
I wanted to let him know that I was okay.
But he would never know of my presence.

“I’ll come back when it’s all over.” I had told him.
But I would never return; it was only later that he would learn:
We would never be together again.
I never got to “meet” him,
I never got the chance to tell him how I felt,
But the memories we had together are enough for me.

For my whole life I have thought of this moment.
When it would come, how it would happen.
It is my fate, so inevitable and inescapable.
I’ve always known it would come.
I’ve always been prepared.
But I never realized how much I loved him – until I was gone.

:blackrose: Tribute to Aerith Gainsborough upon her death to Sephiroth's blade :blackrose:

This was one of the first poems I wrote. At the time, I had played Final Fantasy VII and had gotten to the part where Aerith died. I felt remorse for Cloud's as well as the rest of Avalanche's loss.

I read The Maiden [link] from the Final Fantays VII Novels, one of the greatest writing pieces I have ever seen.

"Besides an indepth guide to the game, [the compiled book Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega] also contained a short story... named Hoshi wo Meguru Otome, "The Maiden who Travels the Planet". This story written by Benny Matsuyama focuses on Aerith as she travels the Lifestream and is set about midway through the original FFVII game. Although not written by the original FFVII scenario writer Nojima himself, the work was under the supervision of Square-Enix. (FFVII Web Novel)

:heart:Oh, please, it is a must-read! Long live the maiden of the Ancients!

Bravo, wonderful job of writing out Aerith's thoughts :D
You know, as much as I love Cloud/Tifa, I think Maiden Who Travels the Planet REALLY put a tack on who Cloud was really into.

Omg, I nearly cried reading this.
I'm a total CloudxAerith supporter.
When she died in the game, I had to actually get up and stop playing for a while. That had never happened to me. I had never gotten so upset over a character's death before. *Well, actually, I recently broke that record, with Zack's death*
This was very well written and so beautiful.

:+favlove: Sorry this is a late reply! But I just wanted to say thank you - I am very glad you read this and liked it. I, too, am a Cloud and Aerith supporter :date:, although after playing Crisis Core with my boyfriend my heart softened over Zack's life and how he died trying to return to Aerith. :rose:
:cuddle: Of course, I played Final Fantasy VII long before that, and even though I knew from others that Aerith would die, I wanted to see it for myself. Because I had totally fallen in  with her character in Kingdom Hearts, I wanted to see how she lived. And well... it pulled at my heartstrings. :frail: So, I made this.

Yeah, it breaks my heart knowing Zack died trying to get back to her and protect Cloud. I adore Zack and ZackxAerith is cute too, but I'm a CloudxAerith fan all the way!

And you're very welcome! X3

It's just plain beautiful, Aeris was an amazing character and the world lost something great when she died. I admit to being a Sephiroth fan, however ill never forgive him for killing Aeris. Wounderful poem!!

:airborne: We truly did lose something when she died, it was unnervingly quite a shock to video game players and not - when I saw for myself Aerith's death, it took my to a whole other level. :work:

 It wasn't just a video game anymore. It was something thought-provoking, heartbreaking. To think, a lady so virtuous, who so easily gave to others, who smiled so gently - killed? The music uplifted Final Fantasy VII from its time, as though it were conveying a contemporary notion ahead of its capabilities in its time. :star:

:thanks: I thank you again, for reading this poem. I had no idea how many would see this, and for that I am very grateful. Btw, I love Sephy, too. He's smexy. :excited::heart:

For me, Aerith's death symbolized the fact that the good do indeed die young. Sephiroth to me has always been an interesting character as well, is he cold? or is it just the fact he doesnt seem to understand other peoples emotions. Aerith took a stand againt the evil of all evils and paid the ultimate price...it's almost insulting that cloud seems to get credit for defeating Sephiroth.

When Aerith died in the game (remade version so it looked sadder) I cried. I was like "NOOOOOOO NOT AGAIN" I played original one (first so worse graphics not that sad but still sad). Aerith was pure of heart and of mind apparently. :crying:

When Aerith first, I was facing major shock. I was emotionally affected by the fact that she died, but it was only AFTER Cloud lowered her into the water that I became so suddenly sad. It was like.. I didn't know how to react from her death.

Glad to meet someone who's also played the game. I've never beat it - just gotten far enough to Sephiroth in the Crater and never beat him. lol Nice meeting you!
